Five Things: Farmers Market, New Gas Lines
Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, May 24.

Goddard Park Farmers Market:Â From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. off Ives Road (there will be a large sign).
Opening reception at Heritage: A collaboration of three very local artists – Marjorie Ball, Alice Gebhart (owner of Heritage), and Paulette Miller – is showcased in an exhibit of Rhode Island artists. More than 65 artists in total. The show is filled with a variety of styles and medium. From 6 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Gallery on Post Road.
New gas lines coming on the Hill: If you’ve walked or driven on the Hill this past week, you may have noticed bright yellow and blue spray painted lines and arrows on the many of the streets. It’s in preparation of gas line replacements due to begin in June. Some streets already have the new, plastic gas lines – Prospect, Mawney and Reynolds,  for instance. Work, however, is planned on a number of main streets on the Hill, including Spring, Peirce and Union. ‘Tis the season for roadwork …

Parade volunteers needed! Memorial Day Parade organizer extraordinaire (and Town Clerk) Leigh Botello is looking for a few good men and women to help with Monday’s parade. If you can help out, contact Leigh at lbotello@eastgreenwichri.com or (401) 886 8604.
Safety Town 2013 Registration: Open for all kindergarten students. This 4 day program will be held at Hanaford School June 25 - 28, from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $60 per child, which includes 4 half-day sessions, snacks, t-shirt and all supplies. Topics include all areas of safety geared toward kindergarten age students including: bicycle, pet, water, helmet, personal, poison, drug and bus safety plus more. EG Fire, Rescue and Police units will provide information sessions, demonstrations and vehicle tours. Participants also get a first-time ride on an EG school bus. Story Hour at Symposium Books: Children (and their adults) are invited to Story Hour at Symposium Books . Every week they pick a new story and read it to the kids with animal crackers and fun. Favorite stories are "No Matter What" and "Jungle Explorer." Come early and help pick the story, and better yet, there is a 10 percent additional discount on everything in the store during story hour! 11:30 a.m.
Avenger Home Action: The Varsity Boys Baseball team takes on our neighbor to the south, NKHS, at 1 p.m.

Moving sales: The moving sale on 650 Love Lane (see Saturday listings) continues today from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There another moving sale at 65 Bailey Blvd., with offerings from furniture to gaming and exercise equipment to mens, womens and children’s clothing and accessories. From 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On Monday …
Memorial Day Parade: The town’s annual tribute to those who have served in the armed forces and are no longer with us steps off from Academy Field at 10 a.m. and makes its way over to First Avenue, down Main Street and ends at Town Hall for, among other events, the recitation of the Gettysburg Address. Don’t miss it!
CCK Supper: Once a month, Christ Community Kitchen takes place at St. Luke's Church (usually, but not always, the last Monday of the month). It's a community meal open to anyone interested in good food and fellowship. No religious affiliation is required. St. Luke's and EG United Methodist Church share in the cooking and serving duties, typically rotating every other month. For Memorial Day, they will be grilling. From 5 to 6:30 p.m.
