Five Things: New Restaurant Opens on Main St., Planning Board Meets

Danteβs Kitchen is open: Main Streetβs newest eatery, Danteβs Kitchen at 315 Main Street, opened for business on Monday and is serving breakfast and lunch between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Planning Board meeting: The agenda includes an extension for Sweet Peas Child Care and a 5-home subdivision. You can see the agenda here.
Scituate Reservoir & the Lost Villages: The North Kingstown Free Library presents a slide show and talk about the 14,800 acres of land in rural Scituate that were condemned to build the Scituate Reservoir in 1915. The hardworking people of the five villages that were located on this land lost their property and their homes. Today, water from this reservoir serves more than 60 percent of Rhode Islanders. Ray Wolf, author of several books about Rhode Island history for the Images of America series, will show slides and tell us about these villages, lying now beneath the water, and describe the construction of the reservoir. RhodeMap RI Regional Forum: The state wants to know β what's it like living and working in Rhode Island? You can tell them how to build a better Rhode Island. Thursdayβs session is one of four being held around the state this week. It is a free public open forum where your thoughts and ideas can make a difference. At the URI Memorial Student Union in Kingston. From 5 to 9 p.m. Formal program begins at 6:00 p.m., but stop by anytime.

Poetry & Art opening: The opening reception for Poetry & Art, an exhibition of contemporary poetry and responsive art sponsored by the Wickford Art Association. A collection of 55 poems by local writers was compiled and 55 juried artist members of the WAA were asked to select a poem from the submissions and create a piece of art inspired by the poem. The opening takes place at 36 Beach Street from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
