Ozone alert: Don’t breath today – but take the bus, because it's free! Ok, you can breath, but with ozone levels in the “unhealthy” category for our area, officials are recommending you avoid strenuous outdoor activity.

Goddard Park Farmers Market: The market has moved into fall mode, with pumpkins, squash and apples. It’s a lovely way to spend a cool late summer morning. Off Ives Road, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Teen Center: The Teen Center has provided a great place to hang out on Friday evenings for decades now. They meet at the gym at Eldredge School but you don’t have to play basketball to enjoy the camaraderie. From 6 to 8 p.m.

Sock Hop: The American Legion/Post 15 in East Greenwich is holding a Sock Hop fundraiser tonight from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $12 per person. Dust off that poodle skirt ladies and slick back that hair guys for a fun night of dancing, food and root beer floats! For tickets/more information call the Legion at 401-884-0000.

Multi-family yard sale: Hundreds of items available at 7 Trappers Lane, East Greenwich. Everything must go, and all offers considered. We are moving and need to lighten the load. Most items are in EXCELLENT condition, many are new or barely used. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Ann Hood at Barnes & Noble: series to kick off the Barnes & Noble Imagination Destination Summer Reading Program. Hood, a native Rhode Islander and author of several books for adults, will be conducting a special reading and book signing of Treasure Chest: Brave Warrior at 2 p.m.

Wild Plant Society sale: Come shop at the best native plant sale in Rhode Island. The Rhode Island Wild Plant Society members and friends carefully raise plants that have evolved in our region to support and attract birds and butterflies. We have wildflowers, ferns, shrubs, trees, grasses, ground covers and more, a great selection of native plants for every location in your gardens. You can also “ask the experts.” At 2095 Kingstown Road in South Kingstown (Route 108 1/10 mile south of Route 138 near URI) from 9 a.m. to noon.

R.I. Children’s Chorus auditions: The Rhode Island Children’s Chorus, a music education and performance ensemble for children, will hold auditions for new members for the Fall, 2013 season on Saturday, June 1 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at  St.Luke’s Church,  99 Peirce St., East Greenwich, RI.   Auditions will also be held on Thursday, June 6, from 6:30-7:30pm.  Boys and girls ages 7-16 yrs. are welcome. “Corcoran Strong” Pasta Dinner: Everyone is invited to a delicious Pasta Dinner Fundraiser, Silent Auction & fun raffles at St. Peter's lower Church on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. Full dinner includes pasta, meatballs, salad, fresh bread, butter, hot & cold beverages & dessert. All proceeds directly benefit the Celeste and Sydney Recovery Fund. Pet Refuge walk: Join in the fun on this 1-mile walk to benefit the Pet Refuge animal shelter. The Pet Refuge is a non-profit, no-kill shelter in North Kingstown that serves all of R.I. The cost is $15 today at www.nkeapl.org or $20 the day of the walk. Meet at the Goddard State Park Carousel. Lunch is provided for all registered participants. Terrific raffle prizes too! Boys Lacrosse State Final: After a big win over the Wheeler Warriors Wednesday (13-4), the Avengers return to the D II state finals, looking for a third state championship, against South Kingstown at 3 p.m. at Brown University.
