Five Things: School Committee And A Mentalist

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Jan. 8.

Cove Commission meeting: The agenda includes discussion of a possible water dock and recap of a December visit to the Rocky Hollow right of way (otherwise known as Harris Marina). The meeting starts at 4:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

School Committee meeting:
On the agenda is the second reading of a new personel policy and the 2013-14 school year calendar. The meeting, in the library at Cole Middle School, starts at 7 p.m. (The panel meets in executive session at 5:30 p.m.)

Going Mental with Rory Raven:
The Friends of East Greenwich Library are hosting an evening of mind-bending tricks performed by Rory Raven. Minds will be read, spoons will be bent, and volunteers will be invited to test their own "powers." If the powers are with us, the evening will conclude with a re-creation of the kind of manifestation you might have witnessed in a séance chamber over a century ago! While the show is "TV clean," it is more suitable for adults than for children. The program begins at 7 p.m. and will be preceded by the Friends Annual Meeting at 6 p.m. at the library. Refreshments will be served.

Christmas Tree disposal this week: The Town of East Greenwich will be picking up Christmas Trees (stripped of decorations and NOT in plastic bags) the week of Jan. 7, on your regular trash pickup day.

We’re looking for a new Facebook cover page …
and looking to you to help. Upload your winter scenes here. I’ll be collecting the pictures through Friday and then we can all vote on the one we like best.
