Five Things: Stroll, Winter's Eve

Winter’s Eve at EG Free Library: The Friends of the East Greenwich Free Library proudly present Winter's Eve, the 2nd Annual Juried Art Exhibit & Concert. The opening reception will showcase the work of some of R.I.'s finest artists selected for the exhibit by juror and R.I. artist Mimo Gordon Riley.The evening will include a presentation of the Juror's Award and a concert by the Hummingbird Trio, a talented female group singing big band, jazz, and swing songs from the ‘30s, ‘40s and beyond! Wine and sweet/savory hors d'oeuvres will be served. All are welcome and it’s free! From 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Holiday Main Street Stroll: The “Ladies Night” holiday stroll of the season takes place tonight from 5 to 8. You can do some shopping, grab dinner, and even stroll on up the hill to catch the cool happenings at the Library.

Book Signing at Symposium: Tying in with the holiday stroll, Symposium Books is hosting book signing with Rhode Island author Sebastian Cole, who will be signing books for his debut novel, Sand Dollar: A Story of Undying Love. Set in Rhode Island, Sand Dollar is an epic, heart-wrenching love story about “the one who got away.” Cole will be there between 6 and 8 p.m. Sounds like a great gift idea!

Divorce Care group: This is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. People who understand what you are going through and want to help, lead the sessions. There will be a 30-40 minute video featuring top experts on divorce and recovery subjects, followed by a discussion and sharing time. Sessions will begin on Thursday, October 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. and will meet at Christ Church Ministry Center (Steeple View Condominiums, 61 Cedar Ave. #1, East Greenwich) for 13 weeks. Patch’s ‘Deck the House’ contest: Are you a holiday house decoration nut, or know one in EG? Well, we’re looking for the most decorated houses in town to participate in the second annual Patch Deck the House Contest. The overall winner brings $100,000 to their school district, but runner’s up get up to $500 back on their electricity bill. So far, we have one entrant, Stanley, pictured here.
