Driver Accused In Main St. Hit-and-Run Pleads Not Guilty

Amanda Ashman of Glocester pleaded not guilty Friday in Kent County Superior Court to eight counts, including five felony charges, in connection with a hit-and-run that injured two people on Main Street Feb. 20.

Drugs Overtake Alcohol In Annual Drug Program Stats

The EG drug program saw 100 youths (under age 18) in the 12 months from July 2012 through June 2013, for issues split pretty evenly between alcohol, drugs and mental health, according to drug counselor Bob Houghtaling. That's down from 122 a year ago, but just a bit lower when looking at the three-year average.

The vote of no confidence for the fire chief orchestrated by the union leadership is nothing more than a cheap shot at the chief and a ploy in the current negotiations. Taxpayers in East Greenwich should be grateful to have a dedicated and passionate Chief like Peter Henrikson.

EGHS Principal Weighs In On 'Warning' Classification

On July 2, 2013, the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) released school classifications using a new system. The new system, revamped according to RIDE website β€œ... comes out of a request for β€œflexibility” regarding some of the provisions of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA also known as No Child Left Behind orNCLB),” and it placed East Greenwich High School into a category of β€œWarning.”
