Legal Pot Grower Allegedly Punched, Robbed

The licensed medical marijuana grower told police that he was assaulted and robbed of four ounces at his house.

EAST GREENWICH, RI—Police are investigating an alleged assault and robbery at the home of a licensed medical marijuana grower.

According to a police report, the suspect contacted the victim through Facebook messenger and was invited to the Kent Drive home of the victim, who told police he is a medical marijuana card holder and harvester.

The harvester told police that about four ounces of marijuana was on the counter and the suspect punched him in the face, causing him to lose his balance. The suspect then grabbed the marijuana and fled the house.

The victim gave chase but the suspect got into a four-door car and left toward Howland Road, according to the report. The victim got into his own car but couldn’t find the suspect vehicle and drove directly to the police station to file the report.

Police are investigating.
