Local Pharmacies Get Rush For Flu Shot

As of right now, your best bet EG is the Walgreens at 1000 Division Street.

I got the last flu shot at CVS Pharmacy on Main Street. The store won't be getting any more until Monday at the earliest, they said, and maybe not even then.

According to pharmacist Sherry Manferdini, the store didn't have any until a surprise shipment of 30 doses came in just after noon on Friday. By 5:30, when I arrived, they were down to the one.

"Last year, we went through 1,300 at this store," Manferdini said. "This year already, we've gone through 2,000. They never anticipated such an increase year to year."

At the CVS at 1285 South County Trail, they have flu shots, but only for people 65 and older. They were uncertain when they would be getting more to use on the general population.

Walgreens at 1000 Division St. does have flu shots, they said, at least through Saturday. They normally give out a lot of flu shots, but it's been crazy in the past two days, since headlines have been trumpeting flu.
