Kentish Guardβs Annual Inspection: The Kentish Guard will be conducting its Annual Inspection on Academy Field (where the guard first drilled in 1774), starting about 6:10 pm. The brief but colorful ceremony is an old military ritual wherein the troops are inspected and the authority of the inspector is acknowledged. The inspector, in this case, is Major General Kevin McBride, the Adjutant General of Rhode Island.

Providence Singers auditions: Serious about singing? Why not audition for the Providence Singers for their 2013-14 concert season. Seeking tenors and basses but will audition all voice types. Main Street Stroll: Thatβs right, thereβs a second stroll this month. This Thursdayβs stroll is the popular βTaste of Main Streetβ event. Come walk Main Street, sample some food, take in some live music and visit the shops and vendors. From 5 to 8 p.m.
Zumbamania 3:Β This is going to be HOT, the instructors promise. Five instructors are coming together for a great evening of Zumba at the Varnum Armory on Main Street, including Latin, Hip-Hop, Bollywood, and Bhangra styles. Itβs $15 at the door. 6:30 p.m.
βI Have A Dreamβ remembrance: Youth to Youth is hosting a pizza party and discussion about Martin Luther King Jr.βs famous speech on the Washington Mall 50 years ago Wednesday, Aug. 28. The speech will be shown. From 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Police Department Community Room. All are welcome.
