Obituary: Loretta M. Hodges, 90

A long-time member of Quidnessett Country Club, she was an avid bridge player and loved golf and cooking.


Loretta M. Hodges, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at the home of her daughter on Jan. 30. She was the devoted wife of the late Bruce R. Hodges.

Born in Lake Linden, Mich., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Alexandrina (Gagnon) Venne. Mrs. Hodges was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church, a long-time member of Quidnessett Country Club, an avid bridge player and loved to golf and cook.

She was the loving mother of Gail H. Gibson of Norridgewock, Maine, and Susan J. Hall of Narragansett, and the loving grandmother of Reid, Lisa, James, Annie and Jack. She was the sister of the late Florence, Arthur and Lawrence Venne.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., EG. Calling hours are omitted. A private burial will take place in the R.I. Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to VNA of Care New England, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, R.I. 02886, or to the Narragansett Lions Club, P.O. Box 186, Narragansett, R.I. 02882.
