Police Investigating Westood Drive Break-In

The suspect or suspects stole a purse containing cash and personal information as the homeowners slept.

EASTΒ GREENWICH,Β RIβ€”Police are investigating a break-in on Westwood Drive reported last Tuesday.

Police said the homeowners reported hearing a dog barking at around 12:47 a.m. One resident jumped out of bed, turned on the lights and checked the kitchen and garage. He then discovered that the rear garage door was open and two pieces of plywood covering a broken window had been removed.

It was then that police were called.

Detectives soon learned that the wife's handbag had been stolen from a hook on a door near the garage. The bag, described as a Louis Vuitton bag valued at $750, contained a $250 wallet, $120 cash, Social Security cards, a checbook, Ray Ban sunglasses, a debit card and makeup.

At around 2:30 a.m., police reported finding the handbag lying on the side of the road nearΒ Post and Franklin Roads. The sunglasses were also nearby.
