Police Log: Back-to-Back Arrests

Thursday, Nov. 29

12:01 a.m. – Police arrested Scott Edes, 44, of Eldredge Avenue, for violating a No Contact order and disorderly conduct after he allegedly went to the residence of a woman he’s not supposed to contact, coming to her residence and then knocking over her trash cans when she refused to let him in. She called police after he refused to leave. 

6:25 p.m. – Police arrested Scott Edes again on two bench warrants as his home on Eldredge Avenue.

Friday, Nov. 30

8:37 a.m. – Police arrested Robert Mattingly, 42, of South Pierce Road, for driving with a suspended license and driving while under the influence of drugs after he was stopped while driving on Middle Road. Police had been on their way to his house to check on him for the state probation/parole department. Mattingly’s mother and one other person were in the car, which belongs to his mother. Mattingly, who stumbled and was unsteady on his feet, also was mumbling. He told police, when asked, that he had “cocaine, benzos, Zanax, Clonapin, and heroin” in his system. Police took him to Kent Hospital for a blood test, after which he was taken back to the police station and processed.

Saturday, Dec. 1

12:52 a.m. – Police arrested John Kemble, 42, of Main Street, for driving without a license after he was pulled over for driving without headlights on Main Street near London Street. He was issued a court summons on the charge.

6:14 p.m. – Police arrested Matthew Martella, 26, of Providence Street in West Warwick, on a bench warrant and for driving with a suspended license after being stopped for failing to use a right turn signal on Post Road. He was taken into custody and cited for the turn signal and license violations.

Monday, Dec. 3

1:37 a.m. – Police arrested Steven McKay, 28, of Boston Neck Road in North Kingstown, for driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over driving south on Main Street for swerving over the double yellow lines twice. McKay said he may have swerved because he’d been searching for something in the car while driving. Routine checks turned up the license suspension. He said he didn’t know it had been suspended. A friend arrived to drive the car from the scene.
