Police Log: Copper And Marijuana

Monday, Feb. 4

12:42 p.m. – Police arrested Laura McFarlane, 49, of Smith Street in North Providence, for driving with a suspended license after she was stopped for speeding on Route 4 south. She was clocked at 78 mph in a 55 mph zone. Routine checks turned up the suspended license as well as the fact her car was not registered. She was issued a court summons for the license violation and told to report to the EGPD before her court date for processing. She was also cited for driving an unregistered car.

7:44 p.m. – Police arrested Michael Brennan, 66, of Oak Dell Circle, on a Superior Court warrant. He was booked at the station then taken to the ACI.

Tuesday, Feb. 5

7:29 a.m. – A North Kingstown man dropped off a lime-green-colored Roadmaster mountain bike after it was left outside the Cumberland Farms on Post Road for 45 minutes.

Wednesday, Feb 6

1:08 p.m. – The principal of East Greenwich High School gave the police a small plastic baggie of what later tested positive for marijuana.

Thursday, Feb. 7

8:47 a.m. – A real estate agent reported all the copper pipe had been removed from a house on Shippeetown Road he was listing. The house had been vacant since Jan. 30. Police found copper pipe missing from the kitchen, bathroom and basement. The copper was valued at $3,000. A back sliding glass door may have been left open, police learned.

9:40 a.m. – Police arrested Greg Waldron, 33, of Station Street in Coventry, on three felony counts of larceny, conspiracy and receiving stolen goods connected with the theft of copper pipe from a house on Shippeetown Road (listed above). Coventry PD notified EG Police they had Waldron in custody for stealing copper. Waldron told police he and another man on Feb. 5 had driven into East Greenwich and the other man left the car for more than two hours, returning with a backpack. The next day, they drove to a scrap metal place in Johnston where the other man sold scrap metal. Waldron said he was given $20 plus some gas money.
