Police Log: Burglary, Graffiti, Shrubbery

Sunday, Nov. 25 

6:23 p.m. – A Frenchtown Road resident reported a burglary at her house sometime between 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, and this day, when she returned home around 6:10 and found a side door open and a sterling silver serving set and a number of jewelry items missing. She said the door has been locked when she’d left on Thursday.

Monday, Nov. 26

2 p.m. – A Tillinghast Road resident complained someone had left a large amount of yard debris and cut branches on his property while he was away. He said this was not the first time this had happened.

Wednesday, Nov. 28

11:30 a.m. – An Cedar Avenue resident told police someone had stolen copper piping from a vacant house she’s trying to sell on Shady Hill Drive. She discovered the damage during a visit to the house on Nov. 21 in which she found there was water in the basement and upon inspection saw the pipes were cut and removed from there. Police found the rear garage door had been forced open and approximately 20 feet of pipe had been bent, broken off, and taken. The last time anyone had checked the house before the Nov. 21 discovery was Nov. 16.

Thursday, Nov. 29

12:45 p.m. – A customer of Dave’s Market told police she was shopping there when she realized her wallet was missing and she thought perhaps someone had taken it.

5:08 p.m. – A Tillinghast Road resident complained his neighbor was harming his shrubbery by throwing tree limbs onto them.

5:48 p.m. – Police put down an injured deer lying in the road at the intersection of South County Trail and South Road. 

Friday, Nov. 30

3:08 p.m. – A Trappers Lane resident told police she’d received phone calls in recent days from people who said they were with Bank of America and they needed her Social Security number for verification purposes. The woman said she didn’t have an account with Bank of America and she did not disclose her Social Security number. She gave police the number that the calls were made from.

Saturday, Dec. 1

2:27 a.m. – Police went to a house on South Road to check for a man wanted by North Kingstown police for a domestic incident. They found the man at home and waited there with him until NK police arrived to take him into custody, first disarming him of a large buck knife they found in his pocket.

Sunday, Dec. 2

5:31 p.m. – A Princess Pine Drive resident reported graffiti had been sprayed on a for sale sign in her front yard sometime overnight as well as on a stop sign at South Road and Princess Pine Drive. Profanities were sprayed in rust-colored paint on the for sale sign and the word “fag” was sprayed on the stop sign in what looked like the same paint.
