Police Log: Hen Lays Egg On The Lam

Information about the following incidents was supplied by the East Greenwich Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.


Monday, May 6

11:36 a.m. – A person at New England Tech reported a hen in the parking lot. He said he saw a car pull into the parking lot, the trunk pop open and the hen jump out. He was not able to get the license plate number, according to the report. The animal control officer took possession of the hen, using a cat carrier to transport it to the police station. Before the officer had a chance to take the hen to North Kingstown Animal Hospital, she laid an egg. There was nothing in the report to indicate who took possession of the egg.

Tuesday, May 7

12:18 p.m. – A Marlborough Street resident called police to report a domestic dispute, but when police tried to check out the situation, the woman at the residence refused to let them in and said there were no problems.

Wednesday, May 8

3:30 p.m. – The property manager at the Normandy Arms on Main Street told police a former resident had been hanging around and he wanted him issued a no-trespass order. Police talked to the former resident, who refused to sign the order, explaining he was still subject to it for any violations.

Thursday, May 9

6:18 p.m. – A West Warwick man told police an East Greenwich man had attacked him in a road-rage incident on South County Trail. The West Warwick man had followed the EG man home, then called police. The EG man admitted there had been an argument but said it had only been verbal. The WW man said he did not want to press charges, even though the police noticed a bump under his left eye. He refused medical treatment.
