Police Log: Poop On Main Street, Hunting On Cindy Ann

Monday, Dec. 17

12:04 p.m. – An employee of a medical office on South County Trail reported she was being harassed by her ex-boyfriend while at work. Police spoke with the ex-boyfriend, of North Kingstown as is the woman, and he said he would not go to the woman’s workplace again.

4:53 p.m. – Police heard from two people about an erratic driver on Division Street. Police found the car, which was traveling west on Division, and and saw it drive through two red lights. Finally, police got the car to pull over by the Showcase Cinemas. The driver, of Wakefield, appeared to have medical conditions that would prohibit him from operating a car safety. Police had the man taken to Kent Hospital and sent a letter to the DMV medical board.

Tuesday, Dec. 18

11:12 a.m. – Police watched as a Main Street business owner let his dog onto the street without a leash and allowed him to poop on the street without picking up after him. They told the man to pick up the dog’s most recent poop as well as others gathered there next to the tree in the sidewalk. Several people have complained about dog poop in that area. The dog officer, notified of the incident, issued a ticket to the dog’s owner.

Wednesday, Dec. 19

1:36 a.m. – A Frenchtown Road resident reported a hit-and-run accident in front of his house. A vehicle had apparently hit a utility pole there and proceeded west on Frenchtown. Police investigation indicated the suspect vehicle had been driving west, crossed into the opposite lane near the curve in the road by Forest Lane. It then appeared to have run off the road, hitting the pole and a mailbox. Police recovered plastic pieces from the suspect vehicle.

7:40 a.m. – A Cindy Ann resident told police a suspect truck – first noted to police two weeks earlier – was parked in the area. Police ran a check on the license plate and found the truck’s registration was expired. The owner appeared before a tow truck arrived. The man, of Providence, said he had been hunting with the permission of the property owner, a friend. The car was left at the friend’s house, pending resolution of the registration problem and the property owner told police he hadn’t known hunting was not allowed in that area (east of Route 2).

10:26 a.m. – Police arrested Michelle Johnson, 34, Cowesett Avenue in Warwick, for driving with a suspended license, after she was pulled over for having tinted windows. A subsequent check turned up the license suspension. Police had the car towed from the scene and issued Johnson a court summons.
