Police Log: Road Rage, Stolen Copper

Monday, Dec. 3

10:54 a.m. – Police arrested Angela Rodriguez, 45, of High Hawk Drive, on a warrant after she went to the police station for a VIN (vehicle identification number) check and a check of her driver’s license turned up the warrant. She was taken into custody, processed and taken to district court.

12:13 p.m. – A North Kingstown woman involved in a road rage incident told police it started after she had beeped her horn at a driver pulling out of a parking space in front of her. A verbal argument ensued with the driver of the other car eventually throwing a cup of soda at the woman. The woman began to follow the other car but on the Route 4 southbound entrance, the driver of the other car stopped, got out and took photos of the woman and her car. The other driver filled out a report at the police station.

4:03 p.m. – An AT&T employee reported damage to two air conditioning units at the AT&T building on South County Trail. Copper piping from both units had been taken.

Tuesday, Dec. 4

11:30 a.m. – A town worker told police someone was dumping illegally behind St. Patrick’s Cemetery on Fifth Avenue. Police learned the dumping of leaves and yard debris was being done by employees of Our Lady of Mercy Church, which owns the cemetery. According to the town worker, sometimes the debris included flower pots, plastic containers and other gravesite debris. The building official said he would meet with OLM to determine the property line.

12:56 p.m. – While police were checking on a vacant house on South Road, they talked to a contractor hired to board up and secure the property. He told police he’d have the property secured by the end of the day. The owner of the property, who lives in Coventry, told police someone appeared to have been living there.

4:06 p.m. – A Division Street resident told police he’d gotten a phone call from a person who said she was with a law firm named Landmark & Associates. She told him $200 had been erroneously deposited into his account and she wanted his credit card number so she could charge him $200. Sensing a scam, the resident hung up. He subsequently closed that account and opened a new one.

6:39 p.m. – The proprietor of the Greenwich Hotel complained about two guests who refused to pay their bill of $180. After a representative of the two men handed the $180 over to the police, the matter was closed. The representative was told to tell the men they were not welcome back at the hotel.
