Rok Bar 'N' Grill Is Open

Several months after the initial announcement, Rok Bar and Grill has opened for business, nearly two years after the closure of .

The restaurant is at 11 Main St., at the corner of Division Street.

The rock-and-roll concept is a tribute to Steve Marra, an EG restaurant legend whose company owned not only the Post Office Cafe but the Grille on Main, as well as several other restaurants in Rhode Island. Marra died unexpectedly in August 2011.

According to Brendan Sweet, who owns Rok Bar with Walter King, a rock-and-roll style restaurant was something Marra had talked about. The former post office now features an Elvis Room, lots of classic photos and more than a few guitars. Another room is set aside for special functions and private parties, complete with its own bar.

Behind one of the old post office window grills is a copy of Mick Jagger's mug shot from the time in 1972 when he and the rest of the Rolling Stones were arrested in Warwick – really! Behind the other grill is a photo of Jim Morrison from his arrest in New Haven, Conn.

The menu are in old LP covers and the children's menus are on the LPs themselves. There are several cozy booths and plenty of screens that will typically show music videos, but can switch to show the big game when that's needed.

The menu features burgers, steaks, salads, grilled pizzas and a few vegetarian options. They even offer Elvis's favorite: peanut butter-and-banana sandwiches.
