Town Picture Wins It In Facebook Cover Contest
The shot, submitted by Rebecca Moniz, was taken from Goddard Park.
The votes have been counted and Rebecca Moniz's photo of East Greenwich from the opposite side of Greenwich Cove was the overwhelming favorite, with 19 votes.Â
In an email, Moniz said winter is the ideal season to get this particular shot.
"This photo was taken in January while on a snow shoe hike in Goddard Park," she said. "I took the same angle last year, but this year the light was much better and seemed to illuminate the courthouse and the flag in front of it. Plus, there are still boats in their slips. I love the look of the town from this viewpoint. It just exemplifies the Hill/Harbor area of town. It never looks the same in the other months. I tried getting the same feel during different seasons but this is the most idyllic time of year for this shot."

Moniz said photography is just a hobby for her (though you could have fooled us!): "I don’t really know what I’m doing yet, but I’ve always enjoyed it."
She continued, "I shoot with a Nikon D40x. I used a Nikkor 55/200 mm lens. It’s not so much the equipment as it is being in the right place at the right time and sensing the beauty of what is around you. Being able to capture it is certainly a plus. I have many of my favorites from my camera phone."
