Vandal Tears Down Greenwich Hotel's American Flag: East Greenwich Police

EAST GREENWICH, RI — A vandal tore down the Greenwich Hotel's American flag, police said.

Surveillance video showed a man carrying a blue can who "grabbed the flag and ripped it out of the holder," according to an East Greenwich Police Department report.

"The wooden rod to the American flag was snapped off at the bottom," the report said.

The man was in the company of two other men and a woman, according to the report, and "you can see in the video one of the friends raised his hands up confused as to why he would damage the flag."

After the man pulled down the flag, he and the rest of his group headed to a nearby parking lot and "appeared to be driving a blue SUV," the report said

"The vehicle is observed backing out of the parking lot and then continued south on MainStreet," the report said.
