Warwick Man Sentenced For Conspiring To Behead Americans

Nicholas Rovinsky, of Warwick, was a follower in the plot, and not the leader, the government said.

BOSTON, MA — Nicholas Rovinski, 27, was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in prison for his role in a terrorist plot to kill police officers and behead Americans. Rovinski, also known as Nuh Amriki, and Nuh Andalusi, will also face lifetime supervised release after he does his time, according to the U.S. Attorney's office in Boston.

He pleaded guilty in September 2016 to conspiring with David Daoud Wright, 28, and the late Usaamah Abdullah Rahim "to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) - a designated foreign terrorist organization - and conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism transcending national boundaries," the U.S. Attorney's office said.

"Their attack plans included the beheading of a New York woman whom ISIS had identified to its supporters for murder through a “fatwah” or religious decree," the U.S. Attorney's office said. In May 2015, Junaid Hussain, an ISIS recruiter in Syria, had directly communicated instructions to Rahim regarding the murder of the intended New York victim, in which the three men each agreed to play a critical role."
