Aug. 26: Dog Days of Summer – a dog beauty contest and hot dog sampling!

Date TBA: Blood drive

Sept. 30 and Oct. 7: Horse-drawn carriage ride

Here's the trick, though, we need to support our market if we want to continue. Yes, some of the food is more expensive. That's because these are small-scale operators, not Wal-Mart. If we want them to continue to exist, we need to support our local producers. And, as EGFM's organizer Tracie Truesdell says, the money spent on that chicken, those carrots, that loaf of bread, stays local.

So, if you like the "idea" of the market, make sure you are putting your money where your mouth is.

Now, about parking. Everyone wants to park on Rector Street, but parking is only allowed on the west side (across from the market) and it fills up fast. Consider parking in the St. Luke's–town parking lot and trekking across the field to the market. Then you can buy a cookie and feel like you've earned it!

You can check out the EGFM's website here, or the Facebook page here. See you on Monday!
