5 Things to Know About Weekend

Weekend a bit wet; ride Looff Carousel; farmers market with ewaste collection; learn about dragonflies; torch relay for One Fund.

Here are five things you should know about this weekend, June 28-30, in and around East Providence: 

  1. Possibility of showers and scattered thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday with temperatures around 80 degrees both days.
  2. Ride the historic Looff Carousel at Crescent Park at 700 Bullocks Point Ave. in Riverside from noon to 8 pm.
  3. The Go Local farmers market continues at Barrington Congregational Church on Saturday from 9 am to noon with a free electronic waste drop-off (anything with a wire and batteries, too) operated by Indie Cycle.
  4. Learn about the life and times of a dragonfly at the Audubon Society’s Oak Knoll wildlife sanctuary, 1417 Park St., Attleboro, on Saturday at 1 pm.
  5. A 54-mile torch relay goes from UMass Dartmouth to Boston on Sunday to benefit the One Fund and those impacted by the Boston Marathon tragedy.
