Your Guide to an Acclaimed Gospel Music Family's Visit to E.P. Church

Colonial Baptist Church in Rumford will host The Keffers Gospel music group on Sunday morning, Aug. 4.

Enjoy some acclaimed Southern Gospel music and preaching during a church service in East Providence on Sunday morning, Aug. 4.

"The Keffers," a Southern Gospel music family from Nashville, Georgia, comes to the Colonial Baptist Church at 50 Ferris Ave., Rumford, for the second visit in three years. The special service starts at 10 am.

"It's that good old Southern Gospel that will get your hands clapping and your feet stomping," said the Rev. Jeffery Francoeur, pastor of the church. "They sing their own original music."

Francoeur has known the group's leader, Evangelist Gary Keffer, for about 12 years. They met in Fall River when Francoeur served a church there and The Keffers visited that church.

"They'll offer both music and preaching in a service," said the pastor, that is expected to run more than two hours.

The Keffers' website says: “Gospel music never sounds so good than when it’s delivered with family harmony. This family group takes it a little further with a fresh sound that has been touching hearts across the country for the past 28 years.”

The Keffers “bring an exciting and powerful worship experience with some of the most anointed  gospel music you will ever hear,” according to its website. “Their music has received recognition and acclaim with two Dove Award nominations, incredible charting success with radio and TV appearances and numerous other accolades.”

The group is led by Keffer, a father who has been preaching for more than 40 years; a mother, Linda, who was brought up in a preacher’s home; a daughter, Amy, who writes the music recorded by numerous gospel artists, and a son, Paul, described as possessing a "great big voice and a bigger personality."

A “love offering” will be taken during the service, said the Rev. Francoeur.
