EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — Rumford resident Alex Pease is a clinical pharmacist at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, and he's about to take his passion to another level when he runs the 2022 Boston Marathon for Team Joslin.

The goal of Team Joslin is to raise money to help find a cure for diabetes.

"I got my Joslin swag, and I’m excited to be a part of the team," Pease said.

Pease ran in high school, but did not enjoy it at the time. He said got back into running a few years ago after having children.

Pease is a father of four, and his children range in age from four months to 5-and-a-half years old. How does he make time for training, working, and taking care of the kids?

"During the week, my mornings usually start at around 4:30 a.m." Pease said.

This will be Pease's fourth time running a marathon. He previously ran in Narragansett, completed a virtual marathon during the COVID-19 pandemic and also ran the Seattle Marathon, where he received his qualifying time for Boston.

Pease said has two goals for this marathon. He’s looking forward to raising money for Joslin and has had some family and friends donate since starting his fundraising page.

"I’m looking to bump the donations up a little more," he said.

Pease's other goal to finish the marathon in under three hours, so he can qualify for the New York Marathon this November.

Those that wish to donate to Pease's fundraiser can do so here.
