East Providence Police Honor Fallen Officer
East Providence police were among thousands who mourned slain Yarmouth Police Officer Sean Gannon.

YARMOUTH, MA — East Providence police officers were among the hundreds of law enforcement officers from New England and beyond who attended the funeral of slain Yarmouth Police Officer Sean Gannon Wednesday. Gannon, 32, was shot and killed last week in Barnstable while searching for a career criminal.
"The East Providence Police Department would like to send our sincerest condolences to the men and women of the Yarmouth Massachusetts Police Department, as well as the community of Yarmouth," East Providence police said in a statement. "Rest easy sir."
Gannon's police dog "Nero" was also shot during the incident. The animal survived. Police said Thomas Latanowich, who has 125 criminal charges, shot Gannon and the dog as officers tried to arrest him for a probation violation.
