Looking for a few things to do this weekend in and around East Providence?
The Colonial Baptist Church, 50 Ferris Ave., in Rumford, welcomes The Keffers, a traveling Southern Gospel music group, to its 10 am service on Sunday, Aug. 4. The acclaimed family group travels around the country spreading the Gospel through music; it is in its 28th year of evangelism and has recorded 15 albums and received several Dove Award nominations.
Spend some time riding the historic Looff Carousel at Crescent Park in Riverside at the end of Bullocks Point Avenue. It’s always fun for children and adults of all ages. And you can end your stay with a stop by the nearby Blount Clam Shack or a stroll through Rose Larisa Memorial Park across the street. There’s some steps to the beach or use the boat ramp area. The park is open from around noon to 8 pm each day.

Stop by the nearby Barrington farmers market at the Barrington Congregational Church on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 9 am to noon. There are always new vendors on hand with seasonal produce, breads, pastries and other home-grown goods. Among the usual vendors are New Urban Farmers in Pawtucket, Aquidneck Honey in Middletown, Providence Coffee Roasters in Providence, Nettie's Kettle Corn in North Providence, Oakdale Farm in Rehoboth, and Seven Stars Bakery in Providence and East Providence.
Weaver Memorial Library has a variety of museum passes available to use over the weekend, including Battleship Cove, Southwick’s Zoo, Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester, Old Sturbridge Village and The Hall of Patriot Place. You can click here to reserve a pass online.
