I-195 Off-Ramp to Parkway in E.P. Should Reopen Soon

Replacing the off-ramp is part of a project to turn the old Washington Bridge into a linear park and bikeway.

Completion of the new I-195 off-ramp to Veterans Memorial Parkway in East Providence is anticipated by early fall.

The old ramp was closed in late November last year as part of a $2 million project that will preserve the old Washington Bridge and transform it into a linear park and bikeway, according to the RI Department of Transportation. Work was expected to be done by this summer.

The project manager for the off-ramp said Wednesday, Aug. 7, that the work should be completed by around mid to late September.
