Louise M. Handfield, 86, Battled Cancer

Louise M. (Oliver) Handfield, of Wampanoag Trail, East Providence, died Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center after a courageous 20-month battle with cancer. She was 86.
She was the wife of the late Richard J. Handfield. She was born in New Bedford, Mass., a daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie (Correia) Oliver.
Handfield leaves two daughters, Janet A. Long of Maryland and Nancy D. Cattles of Riverside, one brother, John Oliver of Rehoboth, seven grandchildren, Chelsea Bahlman, Joshua Long, Summer Reed, Adam Medeiros, Nicholas Cattles, Shanon Handfield and Erin LaPointe, eight great grandchildren, Jack Bahlman, Luke Bahlman, Ryder Bahlman, Caleb Reed, Amelia Long, Eva Long, Andrew LaPointe and Gage Alexander. She was the mother of the late Joseph L. Handfield, grandmother of the late Richard Alexander and sister of the late Florence Lee.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 at 11 am in the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Calling hours are today from 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 1210 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920 would be appreciated.
