Townie Golf Tourney to Benefit All Athletics Tees Off Soon

Metacomet Country Club is the host site for the first time of the fifth annual Friends of Townie Athletics Organization golf tournament.

The fifth annual golf tournament to benefit all East Providence athletics is about four weeks away.

Sponsored by the Friends of Townie Athletics Organization (FTAO), the tourney will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7, at Metacomet Country Club for the first time.

You are invited to join former athletes for “a day filled with golf, fun and renewed friendships,” according to the Townie organization.

The price is $150, which includes a round of golf, a cart, lunch, an awards dinner, and a “Super Ticket.” Tee-off time is 1 pm following registration and lunch.

You can also sponsor a tee for $100 to help support East Providence athletics if you don’t play golf or can’t make the tournament.

Golf tournament co-chairs are coaches Rob Traverse and Gregg Amore.

“We invite you to show the Friends of Townie Athletics’ friends, neighbors and colleagues your commitment and support for the student athletes of East Providence,” according to the invitation sent out by Clarence (Junior) Butler, the chair of the FTAO.
