Vandals Damaging Agawam Golf Course

East Providence police have received a report of at least four attacks on the Agawam Hunt Club's greens since mid-May.

Vandals have been targeting the Agawam Hunt golf course in East Providence over the past few weeks.

East Providence police received a report on the vandalism from the course superintendent, Drew Cummins, last week, after the fourth attack on the golf club’s greens since May 19.

Flag sticks have been used to poke holes in the 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 15th and 16th greens. The vandalism occurred on May 19, May 26, June 1 and June 5.

One of those greens also had a patch of grass cut out of it. It appears that a vandal also took a golf club to one of those greens, according to the police report.

Damage appears to have been confined to the holes that border on North Broadway, Centre Street, Greenwood Avenue and Pawtucket Avenue.

Flag sticks and tee markers that have been ripped out of the ground have been tossed into the woods and ponds.

There was no estimate of the cost of the damage, but Cummins told police that it is starting to add up. He requested that patrol officers increase their surveillance of the course.
