Lincoln Town Administrator Special Election Set For Sept. 7

LINCOLN, RI — Voters in Lincoln will choose a new town administrator during a September 7 special election.

The candidates are Democrat John Barr II, Republican Thomas J. Paolino, and independents James B. Spooner, John J. Cullen, John Picozzi, and Philip G. Gould.

The Rhode Island Board of Elections is reminding voters of the following key dates and voting options:

• Mail Ballots: The deadline to request a mail ballot is Tuesday, August 17.

• Drop Boxes: Secure drop boxes will be available for voters to drop off completed mail ballots at Lincoln Town Hall, the Board of Elections’ headquarters (2000 Plainfield Pike, Cranston), and the Secretary of State's Election Division (148 West River St, Providence) through Tuesday, September 7 until 8 p.m.

• Note On Mail Ballot Requirements: In order to be valid, the signature on all certifying envelopes containing a voted mail ballot must be made before a notary public or before 2 witnesses who shall include their addresses on the form.

• Emergency Voting: Emergency in-person voting at Lincoln Town Hall will be available from Wednesday, August 18 through Tuesday, September 7 at 4 p.m. Voters should verify hours with the Lincoln Board of Canvassers.

• Election Day: On Tuesday, September 7, voters can cast their ballots at polling locations in Lincoln. Polls will be open 7 - 8 p.m. Voters should verify polling locations with the Lincoln Board of Canvassers.
