Former Middletown gym teacher Patrick Aylward was found not guilty of simple assault for allegedly head butting a 17-year-old high school female at a Portsmouth Hotel.
Judge Colleen Hastings listed evidence of a relationship between Aylward and the student, including that he purchased a cell phone for her, 100 calls and at least 20 visits to a motel. The student claimed she lied to police about the relationship. Â
Hastings said there was not proof within a reasonable doubt that the assault occurred.
