Fourth of July Hit and Run Leads to Arrest

Arrests were reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Marlena Genga, 21, of 11 Manning Terrace, Newport, was arrested Tuesday, July 9 around 10:17 a.m. after she allegedly left the scene of an accident that occurred in Middletown on Thursday, July 4. No injuries were reported.

The driver of the other vehicle said Genga crashed into his car at the intersection of One Mile Corner. He said she was stumbling and appeared to be intoxicated. When he approached her car, Genga got back in the car and drove away, he told police. He had his car towed for repairs.

Police were able to find and contact Genga, who eventually came into the police station Tuesday morning. She allegedly denied that she was drunk but admitted to leaving the scene of the accident. She was charged with duty to stop at an accident that resulted in damage to a vehicle.
