Man Arrested After Alleged Near-Miss Accident
The following arrest was reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Middletown police arrested a Newport man on Monday around 9:15 p.m. after he was allegedly driving with a BAC over close to 3.5 times the legal limit. Kevin Pepler, 49, of 57 E. Bowery Street, Newport was charged with driving under the influence and two counts of felony drug possession.
Police said he pulled on on West Main Road in Middletown in front of another car and nearly caused an accident. Police said the other driver had to honk twice and drive out of the way to avoid a collision. Police found narcotics and cocaine in his car.
At the station he blew a .274 and .276, said police.
