Man on Scooter Critically Hurt in Middletown Crash
The 57-year-old man riding the scooter was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by helicopter. Police are investigating.

MIDDLETOWN, RI—A 57-year-old man riding a scooter on West Main Road on Wednesday afternoon was transported to the hospital by helicopter after a serious crash, according to police.
The crash happened near West Main Road and Chase's Lane when a truck heading north struck the scooter while turning onto Chase's Lane.
The man riding the scooter suffered serious injuries including head trauma, according to police. He was transported to Newport Hospital by first responders before he was airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital by Boston MedFlight.

The crash happened a day after a serious crash in Portsmouth, also on West Main Road.

Five people were transported to the hospital after that three-car crash, including two teenage boys who were passengers in a car hit head on.
Officials said both teens are recovering and now in stable condition. The man driving that car, a Middletown man, was medflighted to Rhode Island Hospital.
