Middletown Arrests: Male Allegedly Lurks in Sand Dunes, Man Attacked By Baseball Bat
The following arrests were reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following arrests are based solely on the testimony of the Middletown Police Department:
Sand Dune Lurker
Derek Parker-Daily, 21, of 27 Chapel St. was arrested on Monday around 3:00 in the morning after police received a complaint that a male was lurking in the sand dunes at Second Beach and was scaring people.
Police said they stopped Parker-Daily on his bicycle that had a trailer with a surfboard and other items. Along his belongings was an open bottle of Captain Morgan, a bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey, bongs and marijuana.
Parker-Daily was charged with consumption of alcohol of beach and possession of marijuana.

Two Men Arrested For Assault, One With Baseball Bat
Two men were arrested on Saturday evening after they were involved in a physical altercation.
William Freeman, 46, of 24 Tilden Ave, Newport reportedly went the house of Joseph Toppa at 129 Boulevard after he saw Toppa driving the car of a 49 Middletown woman he had been dating. Freeman said he went to the house to pick up a DVD, said police.
When he saw Toppa at the house, Freeman allegedly spit in the woman's face, grabbed her by the shirt and shoved her to the ground. In what he said was self defense, Toppa reportedly took a baseball hat and struck him on top of the head, said police. Police said Freeman became dazed and stumbled out of the house.
Toppa was charged with a felony assault with a dangerous weapon. Freeman was cited with a misdemeanor domestic simple assault charge.
DUI
Lee Nicotra, 32, of 15 Slocum St. East Providence, was arrested on Sunday morning at approximately 2:42 a.m. on a driving under the influence charge.

She reportedly told police she had “several drinks,” after she was pulled over for making an illegal U-turn on West Main Road.
She asked police if they were joking when they told her to step out the vehicle, said police. Police said throughout the field sobriety tests, she continued to ask if the police were joking.
She was arrested and brought to the Middletown Police Department for processing. When asked for a contact number, police said she responded. “I don’t know, I’m too drunk.”
Police Add Charges to Bench Warrant Arrest
Denee Peer, 24, of 177 Rogers Ln. was arrested on Friday around 9:02 p.m.
When police arrived at her residence to locate Peer for an active bench warrant, she reportedly told the officers that Peer had left. She then shut the door and turned off the lights, said police. After about 15 minutes, she returned to the door and said she was Denee Peer, said police.
She was arrested for an active bench warrant and was also cited for obstructing an officer in the execution of duty charge.
