Middletown Hotel's Vending Machines Emptied by Thieves with a Key

A man and a woman stole cash from vending machines at the Homewood Suites in Middletown using a key. A similar crime happened in December.

MIDDLETOWN, RI—Police are investigating the theft of cash from vending machines at the Homewood Suites in West Main Road last month by a men with a key to the machines and a woman who served as a lookout.

Police said the suspects walked into the Homewood Suites on June 16 at around 1:15 p.m. and opened up each vending machine located on three different floors.

They got away with about $120 before leaving.

The man is described as white in his 40s. He has a goatee and a tatoo sleeve on his right arm.

The woman is described as white in her 40s with black hair. Photos from footage recorded at the hotel indicate she has a tattoo or was wearing a bracelet on her left ankle.

Anyone with information is asked to call Middletown police at 401-846-1144 ext. 7034. Det. Geoffrey Delefratte is handling the investigation.

A similar crime happened at the same hotel in December. In that incident, two men entered the hotel and emptied out the machines, getting away with about $80.
