Middletown Wins 9-10 Minor League District II Championship

Congratulations to the Rhode Island District II, 9-10 Minor League Champions!

Middletown defeated Portsmouth 4-3 in an all Aquidneck Island Championship of the Rhode Island District II, 9-10 Minor League All Stars Tournament at Aquidneck Field in Middletown last Wednesday. 

Going into the tournament, Middletown celebrated an undefeated game record, which included 14 All Star teams from Pawtucket to Newport. 

Middletown pitcher Nolan Roubidoux held Portsmouth to one run over three strong innings.  Ryan Andrade pitched three innings of solid relief, stranding the tying run at third base in the final inning.  Shane Mulhearn’s two-run base hit broke open a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning, while Jack Regan’s two-out double drove in the eventual winning run for Middletown.  Tate Copeland also had an RBI for the Islanders.

Portsmouth’s Ryan Schram opened the game with a lead off triple and Will Pierce added a double as the Partiots took an early 1-0 lead.  Eric Federico, Tim McGuire and Tyler DaSilva contributed with RBIs.
