Monday Essentials: Victory Day, Hey Hey Hey

Don't Toss Your Trash Yet: Monday, Aug. 12, is the observance of Victory Day in Rhode Island — and that means that Middletown's trash and recycling schedule is delayed one day.

Rock and Roll Music: Local Beatles tribute band Abbey Rhode visits the Newport Art Museum on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. for a PM Picnic. Bring your basket and enjoy the tunes. Tickets: $10 adults [$5 for members], $8 kids [$4 for members]. Call for more info: (401) 848-8200.

Peachy Performance: The Newport Children's Theatre performs "James and the Giant Peach" on Thursday night at 6 at St. George's School. More outdoor performances on Friday night at 6 and Saturday at 2 and 6 p.m. Tickets: $10 adults, $8 seniors, and $6 children under 12. Bring a chair or blanket for seating.

Make Memories: Middletown Public Library kicks off its Scrapbooking Club for kids 12 to 18 on Thursday night at 6. Disposable cameras provided. 

Drive-In on the Beach: newportFILM Outdoors hosts a drive-in movie at Easton's Beach on Thursday night. Lot opens at 6 p.m., film around 8. Movie is "Summit." $5 per person suggested donation. The newportFILM website has more info.
