Police Said Man Charged With DUI Was Speeding Nearly 30 MPH Above Limit

The following arrest was reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Middletown police arrested Daniel St. Germain, 23, of 900 Plymouth St., Middleborough, Mass., at 1:32 Wednesday morning on charges of driving while under the influence and possession of marijuana. Both charges were first offense misdemeanors.  

Police said they pulled St. Germain over on West Main Road near the Portsmouth town line for traveling 63 mph in the posted 35 mph zone. Police reported he smelled of marijuana and alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot.   When police asked him how much he had to drink, he allegedly responded "I drank red bull and vodka. I had two of those, so that's like a few beers. They contain like 10% alcohol." 

He failed the field sobriety tests was arrested.  A search of the car turned up a small bag of marijuana, said police.

St. Germain was also cited with refusal to submit to a chemical test and for speeding.
