Potter League & RI SPCA Rescue Exeter Dogs From Cold

Fourteen beagles, six Brittany Spaniels and four Chihuahuas were being kept out in the cold, the Potter League says. Nine are at the shelter

MIDDLETOWN, RI—The picture of the Brittany Spaniel tells the story. The shivering dog was tied to a metal pole and left out in the cold. On Dec. 22, the state Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals rescued that dog and 23 other animals from a property in Exeter, with help from state police and Exeter Animal Control.

Now, nine of the dogs are at Potter League in Middletown, while the 15 others are with the RI SPCA. Potter League posted a photo on Thursday.

"A few days ago we posted a photo asking for collars and informed you that as soon as we were able, we would share the details," the organization said. Now the story can be told. The collars went to help rescue the dogs in Exeter. Anyone interested in adopting the dogs should fill out an application at www.potterleague.org or stop by the shelter on Oliphant Lane.
