2 Gansett Women Charged With DWI, Shoplifting

Narragansett Woman Charged With Drunken Driving

Sonya M. Nesmith, 34, of 167 Winterberry Road, Narragansett, was arrested at about 1:56 a.m. on March 10 and charged with drunken driving, and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.

According to police, an officer traveling on Boston Neck Road near CVS clocked a silver Jeep at 50 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone. Police also noted that the Jeep picked up speed, swerved, and made a random three-point turn.

Police said a traffic stop was made when an officer caught up with the Jeep on Pettaquamscutt Lake Road near Huckleberry Trail. Police said the driver – Nesmith – told them that she had had a fight with a family member, and as a result, “I was driving like an *******.”

According to police, they asked Nesmith to consent to field sobriety tests. Police said Nesmith failed field sobriety tests, at which point she was arrested.

Police said Nesmith refused to consent to a chemical breath test at headquarters. She was processed and then released at about 5:20 a.m.

Narragansett Woman Charged With Shoplifting from Dunkin’ Donuts

Lorie J. Lang, 48, of 115 Nepaug Road, Apt. #8, Narragansett, was arrested at about 9:50 a.m. on March 10 and charged with shoplifting.

According to police, based on security footage a warrant was issued for Lang’s arrest for shoplifting from the Boston Neck Road location of Dunkin’ Donuts on March 4.

Police said Lang was arrested without incident at her home on March 10. She was also issued no-trespass orders for all three Dunkin’ Donuts in Narragansett.

According to police, Lang was processed at headquarters and then released at about 11:30 a.m.
