5 THINGS: A Knuckleball Birthday and Lotsa Music

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Thursday, August 2, 2012:

Get fit! (If you’re a woman.) There is a for women 6:30 a.m. each Thursday at Curtis Corner Middle School. The admission cost is $10.

There is such a thing as a free lunch (if you’re a kid). Free youth lunches are available every Tuesday and Thursday until Aug. 17 at the Pier Middle School. For more info, click . The program runs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This service is provided by the Narragansett Lions.

Not about telephones, so don’t bother Beyonce. The Rotary Club of Wakefield at Liliana’s Italian Restaurant at 12:15 p.m. They meet every Wednesday, you know, so swing by for fellowship, lunch and a guest speaker.

Tea time! The Kettle Pond Visitors Center in Charlestown is hosting tea and biscuits, and discussing the popular PBS film series Globe Trekkers. For more info, click – the program is free, by the way, and starts at 3 p.m.

Not to be confused with Liam Gallagher, so presumably, there will be no fighting about scones. The Jesse Liam Band (music samples) plays at the South County Commons at 6 p.m. tonight. The is free and open to the public. This is part of the at the Commons.

The tango, the mamba, probably other cool stuff I don’t even know about. There is tonight at the Towers, starting at 7 p.m. The cost is $10.

OK, maybe you retired one year too early, given how things are going this year… Happy 46^th birthday to Tim Wakefield! Did you know that much like The Highlander, there can only be one successful knuckeball pitcher at one time? That’s why R.A. Dickey is suddenly successful since Wakefield’s retirement.
