5 THINGS: Ahhh… It’s Hot

But not overbearingly so, so just stay in the shade, folks.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Tuesday, July 10, 2012:

Get up to date on that gal Goldilocks, and that swingin’ cat, Red Robin Hood. The Kingston Free Library has a storytime program for preschool kids every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. It’s free! For more info, click .

Get the word on Microsoft Word. A computer basics class on Word will be taught at the South Kingstown Senior Center at 1 p.m. today. The courses run for the next four weeks – For more info, click .

Cruising but not for bruisings. It is at the South County Commons, starting at 5 p.m. This refers to classic cars, and not those trips Kathie Lee used to hawk. Check out classic cars, live music and food.

Blogging, events, letters, what more could you want? Many people often ask me, “Hey are you the Patch guy?” And the answer is yes, yes I am. Then, most often they want to know how they can get things on the site. Let me present you with three options:

  • The easiest way for me is if you use our blog form. If you have a user account, congrats! You can submit directly to our queue by going here. For more info on blogging, go here.
  • If you think your item is more appropriate for the events calendar, that's a simple enough process as well. Go here, and then hit the “Add An Event” button at the bottom of the page. (Note: You might want to search for your event first, since we do have a calendar editor that adds things on her own awesome initiative.)
  • Finally, do you need some input before posting? Or do you have a release that is more of a traditional “letter to the editor” thing? Fine then – send it along to me, either at stephen.greenwell@patch.com or narragansett@patch.com.

I would like to receive your periodical on a full-time daily basis. If that's the case, then you can get it in your e-mail box, bright and early each morning, by going here.

Evolution! On this day in 1997, London scientists reported findings about “African Eve,” leading support to the “out of Africa” migration theory.

What an OUTRAGOUES accent! Happy 40th birthday to Sofia Vergara!
