5 THINGS: Government Meetings, Righting and Weird Al

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Tuesday, October 23, 2012:

“I was recently on a tour of Latin America, and the only regret I have was that I didn’t study Latin harder in school so I could converse with those people.” – Dan Qualye. Here are today’s government meetings:

• The Narragansett Board of Canvassers meets at 9 a.m. in the town hall’s large boardroom.
• Tentatively, there is a scheduled meeting for the Narragansett Planning Board about the comprehensive plan at 6 p.m. at town hall.
• The South Kingstown Planning Board meets at 7 p.m. at the town hall.
• The South Kingstown School Committee has a work session at 7 p.m. in the high school’s library.
• The South Kingstown Historic District Commission meets at 7 p.m. in a conference room at town hall.

Learn to right gooder. There is a five-week writing workshop with professor Nancy Shuster at Peace Dale Library at 2 p.m. (Obviously, it’s one class per week, not five weeks in one day in Quantum Leap fashion.)

Mmm, fresh produce. The Marina Park farmers’ market is at 2 p.m.

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s Mole Day. (Shout out to my old chemistry teacher, Dr. Lamb!) As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. Viva la Quebec! On this day in 1694, British and American forces under the control of Sir William Phipps failed to seize control of Quebec from the French. (To keep with the shout outs, I actually learned this in French class with Madam Gobin and MacLean.)
