Run fast, throw far, leap high! The only thing on the sports schedule for either the Prout School or Narragansett High School today is the girls’ indoor track junior varsity states. Typically, athletes are only allowed to compete if they haven’t qualified for states, so check with your favorite Gansett track freshman, sophomore or junior to see if they’re going before you make the trip up to the Providence Career and Technical Academy. The meet starts at 5:30 p.m.
Only one day left before the most awesome / most horrible holiday! Depending on your perspective, Valentine’s Day is either awesome, or it’s appropriate that its initials are VD. As a reminder, we’ve done a variety of features – you can vote in , check out some , or take . All of our Valentine’s Day referring stories can be read here – We’ll have a column from for the big day tomorrow.

SLEDGEHAMMER! It’s Peter Gabriel’s birthday today – he’s 62 today. While “In Your Eyes” is more appropriate given the time of the year, “Sledgehammer” is a better song to me. It’s got horns and flair, baby! And the subject matter, uh… Well, I’m sure it’s a completely innocent song.
