6 Cited At 300 to 350 Person Party on Ocean Road

Six Cited for Alcohol Violations at Ocean Road Party; Crowd Estimated at 300 to 350; Another Tenant Cited Later That Day

At about 12:28 a.m. on March 2, police investigated a party occurring at 1191 Ocean Road.

Police said that while an officer was on patrol on Ocean Road, he noted about 50 people crossing the road on foot, despite the late hour. Police said that an employee of Spain’s flagged them down, and said partygoers were illegally parking in their lot.

According to police, as they approached 1191 Ocean Road, one of the tenants – Samuel Ledversis, 22 – asked them for help in clearing the residence. Police said that Ledversis told them that the party had gotten out of control, and that there were more than 200 people at the home.

Police said that the front yard alone had about 50 to 75 people standing in it, most holding bottles or cans. Additional units were called as a result.

According to police, even with the help of the tenants, it took about an hour to clear the party. Police said the residence was left heavily littered, and they estimated the total size of the party at 300 to 350 people.

Police said the following people were cited for underage consumption or possession of alcohol while checking IDs as the party cleared:

• Devin Kinsella, 19, of 7 Hadley Drive, Nashua, NH
• Nicole Lefebvre, 19, of 220 Ridge Drive, Exeter
• Joseph Ader, 20, of 2 Fraternity Circle, South Kingstown

The tenants – Ledversis, Joshua Correnti-Wood, 22, and Dalton Frederick, 21 – were cited on scene for social host violations. Police said two other tenants were home at the time of the party, but refused to cooperate.

According to the three tenants who did help clear the party, the other two claimed to be sleeping during the party, and a copy of the lease was not available for police to review. As a result, the incident was forwarded to the community police division for investigation.

However, later that day, police inadvertently found another possible tenant.

At about 9:10 p.m., police stopped Daniel Formisano, 20, of 1191 Ocean Road, for swerving on Point Judith Road near Sea Lea Drive. A traffic stop was made near Fisherman’s Memorial Campground.

Police said that when they asked Formisano about his driving, he told them that he had just woken up and was driving his friend to the liquor store. Police said a six-pack of Corona Extra could be seen under the passenger’s legs.

When he was cited, police said Formisano told them, “Yeah, I know about the law, a few of my friends were cited.” He added, “I do it all the time and always get away with it.”

Police said Formisano, a student at the Community College of Rhode Island, was cited on scene and allowed to drive from it.

The home at 1191 Ocean Road has been cleared of parties by police numerous times despite a changing cast of tenants, according to past reports.

In March 2011, police cleared a party after a taxi drive said there was a fight while he was picking up a customer. In September 2011, police cleared a smaller party of about 40 people.

Other Alcohol Violations

- Brooke A. Nally, 19, of 24 Greenbrier Road, Narragansett, was cited at about 8:03 p.m. on March 2 and charged with transportation of alcohol by a minor. Police said Nally is a student at the University of Rhode Island.

According to police, an officer monitoring traffic from the parking lot of St. Mary’s Church saw a light green Ford Focus traveling with a defective rear license plate light. As a result, a traffic stop was made on Charlestown Boulevard near Bristol Road.

Police said that when asked if there was any alcohol in the car, Nally told them that a 21-year-old passenger had a six-pack of Woodchuck Hard Cider. The alcohol was confiscated and Nally was cited for the violation.
