[UPDATE] AP: Missing Man in Boat Accident Found in Water

According to reporting by the Associated Press, the missing man in a boat crash at Green Hill was found at about 3 a.m. Wednesday.

According to several sources, there was a boat crash shortly before 8 p.m. in Green Hill, and the occupants are still missing.

According to the South County Tipster Facebook account, South Kingstown police and fire responded to East Matunuck Beach around 7:50 p.m. after receiving a report of a boat run aground in Green Hill. Charlestown Rescue also responded with an all-terrain vehicle. According to another report, the boat’s engine was still running.

The Kingston Fire District and the Union Fire District responded shortly after.

As of about 8:25 p.m., RIDEM and the United States Coast Guard joined the search because the occupants of the boat had not been located. Shortly before 8:40 p.m., a Coast Guard helicopter began searching the area.

UPDATE 7:10 a.m. Wednesday -- According to a report from the Associated Press, Coast Guard officials rescued a man off the coast of South Kingstown early Wednesday morning.

Officials said the man is suffering from hypothermia, but otherwise unharmed. A cause for his abandoning ship is still under investigation.
