Police brought the man to the area, and he pointed out a woman. Police said that after pointing out the woman and approaching her, the woman – Eskandani – went in the opposite direction.

According to police, the woman initially refused to provide a name, and said that her family was on a boat in the nearby area. However, she couldn’t tell police where the boat was, and police said her pupils were small and her eyes were bloodshot, suggesting that she was under the influence of a drug.

Police said that Eskandani wouldn’t identify what was in her handbag – whether she was carrying a weapon or not – and she was placed into protective custody.

According to police, a search of Eskandani’s bag revealed several needles, a tie, lighters, needle caps and a prescription pill bottle. Police said that in the bottle was three packs of heroin, with 10 bindles in each pack.

At this point, police told Eskandani she was arrested. A further search of her purse at headquarters also revealed 24 Alpazolams, and additional tools for packaging heroin.

Eskandani was arraigned by a justice of the peace and released later that day. She was issued a felony screening date for Aug. 14.
